Recap
Pontnewynydd AFC Reserves v Blaenavon Blues
Pontnewynydd AFC Reserves were able to play this fixture due to the club’s overall depth of players with so many regulars being called up to support the first team this fixture looked a bit daunting.
Never the less the team looked a bit shaky, to begin with to the lack of communication, familiarity, and new structure imposed by the new reserve team manager Harry. It was Pontnewynydd AFC to get the opening goal scored by Sam Wilkins who has since been dubbed as twinkle toes with his impeccable footwork.
Pontnewynydd would then find themselves on the back foot for the next 40 minutes allowing the Blues to get two sloppy goals in quick succession.
Changes made by Harry at halftime along with his halftime talk seen an improved performance from the side who was unlucky to not get the draw. The game finishing 2-1 to the Blues.
All in all, it was a good first game for the new management and has provided a great insight for them to build on.
