FT: Cwmffrwdoer (reserves) 0 -7 Pontnewynydd AFC

Although the scoreline suggests a one-sided affair in reality it was far from that. Doer pushed and applied the pressure for the full 90 minutes and deserve nothing less than the utmost respect for their efforts.

The reserve was in action again this weekend after being cheated out of their previous fixture away to Fairfield United. With several key players injured from the fixture including team captain and goalkeeper Natt. Natt had suffered broken ribs from the Fairfield fixture Cutis would also be absent due to an injury sustained from the previous fixture.

Enough said about that.

Pontnewynydd Reserves welcomed Forgeside AFC (reserves) to the ruffets, with both clubs having a good competitive relationship with each other a great contest was guaranteed.

However, it would be Pon who would draw first blood with an early goal from Kyle Baldwin within the opening minute. Kyle would quickly strike again only minutes later putting the home side in the two in front with less than 10 minutes on the clock. Luke Short got his 2nd goal of the season and the dragon’s third goal of the day just 18 minutes into the game. Forgeside took advantage of Pontnewynydds high spirits gaining a goal back almost immediately from the re-kick.

Former Forgeside player Tucker managed to get his first goal for the club 41 minutes into the game. However, yet again Forgeside clawed another goal back just seconds later. Young Ethan promised his players that he would score this weekend. Was it a premonition? Ethan got his goal late into extra time of the first half.

HT Pontnewynydd 5-2 Forgeside.

The start of the 2nd half would be pretty uneventful for the first 20 minutes until Forgeside managed to get their 3rd and final goal of the game bring the score to 5-3 just 68 minutes into the game.

Team captain for the day Stephen Farr managed to get himself on the score sheet for the 5th time this season less than 2 minutes after.
