Although major underdogs in this contest Pontnewynydd reserve side never shy’s from a battle and win, lose or draw will be looking to give it they’re all.
Division Two Matchday 6
GCL Division Two Matchday 6 has only two other fixtures this weekend with Blaenavon Blues traveling to Prison side prescoed and Fairfield AFC hosting Forgeside AFC.
Division One Matchday 8
GCL Division One Matchday 8 features the battle of the league’s top two sides as Blaenavon Blues host Mardy AFC at the memorial ground.
Although a victory for Blaenavon may not see them go top nor will a victory for Mardy see them go second. This has to be the most anticipated game of the season and will likely draw a reasonable size crowd.
League leaders Fairfield united travel to Albion Road to take on Pontypool town. A point will see Fairfield retain the top spot after matchday 8. Fairfield and New inn will be the only two sides to have played 8 games this season by the end of the day.
It is a very interesting season of football so far in Gwent Central. Mardy and Blues looking strong favourites with the signings they have acquired this season. The Battle for 3rd and 4th looks to be heating up with several sides still in the running.
Langdon Cup
GCL Langdon Cup kicks off this weekend with Usk Town hosting Cwmffrwdoer in the first-round opener whilst the remaining first-round games will take place on October 2nd.
