pontnewynydd AFC fixtures July 10th

Pontnewynydd AFC July 10th fixtures as Pontnewynydd continue their preseason this weekend facing Brynmawr United and Fairfield United.

Brynmawr United v Pontnewynydd AFC

Pontnewynydd AFC travels to the Welfare ground this Saturday as they face off against North Gwent side Brynmawr United

Still ravished by injury Pontnewynydd is yet again calling upon many reserve team players to fill the void left by the countless injuries that the first team has suffered these past few weeks.

The remaining Pontnewynydd Reserves will host Fairfield United AFC at the Ruffets providing that Welshwater has completed their works on the access lane leading to the home ground.

Blaenavon Blues v Pontnewynydd AFC

Pontnewynydd AFC travelled a few miles up the road to play against Blaenavon Blues 2nd side. Although not at full strength Pontnewyndd held their own but it would be the Blues who prevailed on the day winning 3-1.

Pontnewynydd AFC Reserves v Blaenavon Blues

Pontnewynydd AFC Reserves were able to play this fixture due to the club’s overall depth of players with so many regulars being called up to support the first team this fixture looked a bit daunting.

Never the less the team looked a bit shaky, to begin with to the lack of communication, familiarity and new structure imposed by the new reserve team manager Harry. It was Pontnewynydd AFC to get the opening goal scored by Sam Wilkins who has since been dubbed as twinkle toes with his impeccable footwork.

Pontnewynydd would then find themselves on the back foot for the next 40 minutes allowing the Blues to get two sloppy goals in quick succession.

Changes made by Harry at halftime along with his halftime talk seen an improved performance from the side who was unlucky to not get the draw. The game finishing 2-1 to the Blues.

All in all, it was a good first game for the new management and has provided a great insight for them to build on.
